Transport of tissues

The explanting medical team usually carries on the transfer of tissues (with the exclusion of corneal ones) from the hospital of removal to the preservation Centre.

The corneal tissues are removed locally and transferred to the territorial preservation Centre within 72 hours.

From the preservation Centre (aka “Bank”) to the transplant Unit, the corneal tissue transfer is organized by the first, depending on the type of tissue, its conservation characteristics and the distance to go.

These transfers are carried normally inside the regional circle, by car, train, air or combination of the three, to ensure the arrival to the transplant Unit in the fastest way and in perfect conditions.
